New Mexico Places

I have photographed many interesting places in New Mexico, though certainly only a small fraction of available locations.  I am by no means an expert on landscape photography or New Mexico history, geography, ecology or geology.  But below are some of the places I have photographed, along with a few tips if applicable.  I have also provided a Google Map at the bottom of the page. 

Having said that, there is not enough information on this page for you to plan your visit to any of these sites.  But a bit of internet research will give you what you need. 

Some of these sites are great for landscape photos, some are great for wildlife shots, and some are perfect for smallscapes (photos of small shapes and objects which capture the feel of a place, without capturing its grandeur or scale).

Many of these sites include expansive trail systems in areas where there is no cell-phone coverage.  The trails are not well marked, and it is easy to get off-trail chasing a picture, and then not be able to find the trail again.  I recommend using a trail app (AllTrails is my go-to app), and then download the region you will visit for offline use.
