Book Two

Alaska

I had the privilege to live in Sitka Alaska from fall 1997 to fall 2005.  To this day, Sitka remains one of the most stunning and fascinating places I have lived or visited.

It is also the place where I began my journey into digital photography.  Until 2001, I shot primarily on film, which was expensive to purchase and process.  As a result, I have few pictures from 1997 to 2000.  However, the few that remain are captioned "year unknown" and included on the 2001 page.  I suspect that most, though not all, of these are from my film days.

I did experiment with low-resolution digital cameras during those years, but I can't seem to locate any of those pictures.

Starting in 2001, I utilized better digital cameras, and saved the image files on burnable CD/DVD disks.  Those pictures remain secure and the best of them are shared here.  In late 2004, I started backing up my pictures onto external hard drives, instead of disks.  This was a bad decision, as those drives have since gone bad.  Until I find a way to reclaim them, I do not have pictures from my last year in Sitka.

Still, I hope you enjoy the "blasts from the past" from 2001 to 2004.

Note that some of the Alaska pictures have ambiguous provinance, to say the least.  If you any of my captions with incorrect location information, please let me know on the contact page.
